To retrieve the full benefit of the bra, it is important that the right size and model are selected. Other products in the Carefix portfolio are designed for other purposes. Common for all are their aim to address surgical needs and ease the lives of surgians as well as end users. However, in order to benefit the lives of the people wearing and working with the Carefix product portfolio care needs to be taken in relation to sizing.
DESIGNED TO COVER ALL SIZES
The 4-way stretch material of the Carefix bras will ensure optimum support, comfort and fit throughout the entire post-op recovery. The 4-way stretch material provides superior expansion and contraction ability, enabling the bra to fit multiple sizes. This is not the case with bras made of a more numb (non-expansive) material. If the surgical site is swollen the bra will expand accordingly, and when the swelling subsides, the material will contract and the bra will once again fit the size of the breast optimally. This leaves the compression level intact and ensures high comfort for the patient.
THE REALLY UNIQUE
FEATURES OF OUR GARMENTS
4-WAY
STRETCH
The textile will adapt to the body shape at all times ensuring that the product will provide the necessary compression needed for recovery, as well as the best possible comfort at all times during prolonged wear.
TARGETED COMPRESSION
AND FIXATION
Targeted compression and fixation means that our products are designed to provide the necessary compression and fixation exactly where needed. By controlling compression on the wound area, the healing process advances faster and patient comfort is hightened. The compression zones are specially designed into each product based on indication.
SEAMLESS
KNITTING
For optimum healing, the surgery site needs rest. That is why our products are designed to guarantee no seams in the wound or scar area and at any other critical sites of the applied area. This provides maximum skin friendliness and prevents pressure marks, as well as irritation of skin and tissue.
FACT-BASED
SIZING
When it comes to medical textiles and post-op garments, no size fits all. That is why we base all our sizes on three parametres; statistical body knowledge, comfort stretch measurements and extensive knowledge and experience with the combination of knitting methods in different materials. The combination of these 3 parameters defines our size defintion, ensuring perfect fit at all times.
CAREFIX BRAS - MEASURING GUIDE
USE THE SIZE GUIDE BELOW TO FIND THE RIGHT SIZE
IMPORTANT
Always measure yourself to find the right size of Carefix bra. For optimal fit, we recommend to measure after surgery.
- Measure around your body, just under your breast (Band Size)
- Measure around your body, at the fullest part of the breast (Bust Size)
- The difference between the Band Size and the Bust Size shows your Cup Size, example:
(Bust Size - Band Size = Cup size)
Cm 95 - 80 = 15 cm, i.e. Cup B
In 38 - 32 = 6 in, i.e. Cup B
10 - 12 cm / 4.0 - 4.7 in = Cup AA
12 - 14 cm / 4.7 - 5.5 in = Cup A
14 - 16 cm / 5.5 - 6.3 in = Cup B
16 - 18 cm / 6.3 - 7.1 in = Cup C
18 - 20 cm / 7.1 - 7.9 in = Cup D
20 - 22 cm / 7.9 - 8.7 in = Cup E
22 - 24 cm / 8.7 - 9.4 in = Cup F
Measurement method according to EN 13402-3:2017 - To find your bra size, use the Band Size and the Cup Size. If your Band Size is 80 cm/32 in and your Cup Size is B, use the Carefix size chart to find the corresponding size (size M in the chart below).
IF MEASUREMENT IS DONE PRE-SURGERY
You might need the bra 1-2 sizes larger than indicated by the Carefix size chart, due to post-surgical swelling.
If you have a Carefix bra with cup division (e.g. one bra covers cup A-C and one D-F), you might need a larger cup size compared to the size indicated in the Carefix size chart pre-surgery. Seek advice from your surgeon, nurse or dealer for correct size identification.
For more compression go down one size and for less compression go up one size.
CORRECT AND INCORRECT BRA FITTING
To get the intended result from the bra, it has to fit you. Below is shown the correct fit of our bras versus incorrect.
FRONT OF THE BRA
Your breasts must be completely contained in the cup and not spilling over the top or sides of the bra. If you have large breasts and it feels like the bra does not contain the breast, we recommend you to try a larger size or another Carefix model.
BACK OF THE BRA
The rib band of the bra must sit horizontally below the shoulder blades.
STRAPS
The straps must stay in place and not keep falling off or dig into your shoulders. Adjust the straps to a comfortable length, where the bust is lifted, and the back of the bra is below your shoulder blades (see above)
